CORPUS-BASED ANALYSIS OF LANGUAGE MEANS OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION IN ENGLISH DISCOURSE
Abstract
The article presents a corpus-based analysis of language means of public administration in English discourse. The relevance of the study is обусловлена the growing role of English as a language of international administrative communication and the need for empirically grounded approaches to the analysis of professional discourse. The aim of the research is to identify the structural-semantic, frequency, and functional-pragmatic features of language means of public administration based on corpus data. The research material consists of lexical and textual data selected from the British National Corpus, the electronic resource A Dictionary of Business and Management, as well as the academic publication Handbook of Public Administration. The study employs corpus-based, descriptive, structuralsemantic methods and elements of quantitative analysis. The results show that English public administration discourse is characterized by a high level of terminologization, standardization, and the dominance of nominative structures. The core vocabulary has been identified, including such units as policy, governance, accountability, and regulation, which form the conceptual basis of the discourse. Typical collocations and frequency patterns of their functioning have been determined, with noun phrases and multi-component terminological constructions prevailing. The stylistic and pragmatic features of language means have been characterized, including formalization, the use of nominalization, passive constructions, and formulaic expressions. It has been proven that language means perform regulatory, informative, and persuasive functions, ensuring the effectiveness of administrative communication. The findings confirm the effectiveness of the corpus-based approach to the study of professional discourse and open prospects for further research in the field of corpus linguistics and public administration
