THE POWERPOINT PRESENTATION AS A MULTIMEDIA GENRE AT THE ENGLISH LESSONS
Abstract
Multimedia uses a combination of different content forms such a text, audio, images, animations, video. Speech genres are the methods of speech which are adopted in the specific situation and consist of speech acts, illocutionary force of which performs the strategies and tactics of the addresser; the social standard of the interaction, typed forms of linguistic communication. The present paper presents the PowerPoint Presentation as a multimedia genre in the pedagogical discourse. The peculiarities of the PowerPoint Presentation are considered for communicative parameters: a communicative purpose, a communicative sense, a model of the addresser, a model of the addressee, a content of the action, a temporal factor of the communicative past, a temporal factor of the communicative future at the English lessons in the primary school. The addresser (teacher) is an official, authorized a certain institution. He (she) has the right to create a discourse. He (she) is a specialist in English, he (she) knows a system of English, lexical and grammatical rules, roles of the speaker and the listener, the psychological characteristics of pupils. He (she) is a creative person. The PowerPoint presentation presents vocabulary and grammar of the English lessons. It develops articulation skills, reading skills, listening skills, speaking skills, writing skills, attention, memory, imagination, abilities to concentrate. The PowerPoint presentation is the interaction the addresser (the teacher) and the addressee (pupils), it consists of three compositional parts: Introduction, the main (informative) part and the final part. The paper considers subgenres: greeting, warm-up, phonetic drills, praise, thank, farewell and a hypergenre: a letter.
