GENERAL FEATURES AND TRANSLATION REQUIREMENTS OF LEGAL TERMS

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to study the difficulties of translation of legal terms and features of the process of professional translation from Ukrainian language into English, its dynamics and change. Depending on the purpose, the problems in studying a foreign language, namely a foreign language of professional orientation in state universities of Ukraine, the specifics of their teaching and approaches to the audience were identified. Due to the research and the problems considered, it is noticeable that in the process of learning English for professional purposes and legal terminology, general and even Soviet methods of learning a foreign language for professional use are used, which are outdated, which affects the quality of teaching, professional training. However, with the development of science, jurisprudence and the improvement of professional approaches, new and existing methods of professional translation are emerging, which leads to improved quality and the establishment of new standards. Appropriate distinction is made between these methods by branches of law. The materials of the article prove that outdated teaching aids of legal English are not relevant, and therefore emphasize the need to change outdated teaching aids and give examples of problems that lead to the transition to the latest learning systems. The question of the accuracy of the translation from English into Ukrainian and vice versa can cause difficulties in cooperation with foreign countries and lawyers, in concluding international agreements between them. Also, the accuracy of the translation of legal terms is important in resolving legal issues in foreign and European courts, where the language of the proceedings is exclusively English, as it is an international and publicly available language. In accordance with the above factors of relevance of the issue, there is a need for a professional and systematic approach to the study of the problem of professional translation and the definition of relevant issues. This article is an attempt to analyze such a problem and draw attention to the need for a scientific approach to it.
