MODERN TEACHING METHODS FOR THE FORMATION OF LINGUISTIC SOCIO-CULTURAL COMPETENCE IN SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE LESSONS

Abstract

The article considers the importance of integrating innovative pedagogical approaches into the process of learning English. In the context of globalization and intercultural communication, the importance of developing students' linguistic, sociocultural competence is emphasized, which is key to their effective adaptation and interaction in a multicultural world. Analyzing the theoretical and practical aspects of these approaches, their positive impact on student motivation, language acquisition, development of communication skills, and deeper understanding of cultural features can be highlighted. Special attention is paid to the need to adapt these methods to the individual and age characteristics of students, as well as the importance of cross-cultural projects for deepening linguistic and cultural immersion. In addition, in the article can be discussed the importance of technology in learning English and its role in the development of students' critical thinking and creativity. The issue of integrating language learning with the development of cultural understanding is raised, including the analysis of literary works and discussions on cultural topics. The authors come to the conclusion, that modern teaching methods effectively improve language acquisition, contributing to a better understanding of cultural characteristics and high communication skills. This, in its turn, emphasizes the importance of integrating these methods into all stages of the educational process. The use of real communicative situations, such as discussions, presentations, debates on current topics, allows students to apply their language skills in a context close to real life. This approach also promotes the development of critical thinking, as students learn to analyze different points of view, defend their opinions and make conclusions. The importance of these methods for the formation of linguistic and sociocultural competence is highlighted, emphasizing the need for their constant updating and adaptation to modern conditions and needs of students, which is key to preparing young people for life in a multicultural world.
