FINDING LACUNAS IN RETRANSLATION
Abstract
The article in question deals with lacunae in retranslation status. Gaps are considered in the multiplication and parallel corpuses modi. Of great validity turn to be bi-texts at the Concordance, peritexts included. Herein the third code is badly needed. The article examines the possibilities of investigating lacunae of transmitted translations, which can be investigated within the framework of multilanguage and parallel corpora. It is proposed to investigate lacunae in the transferred translations autonomously, analyzing bi-texts. The analysis of material sources verifies that lacunae can be hardly analyzed at the level of concordance and require the involvement of peritexual corpora. Attention is being paid to the gained thesaurus of scientists in terms of relevant question. The Translation English Corpus (TES) consists of original texts and peritexts, additional material (headlines, subheadlines, epigraphs, pseudonyms, explication matter). Bi-texts make the object of investigation in terms of mistakes and hardships of original and translation texts. The former work by the principle of Errare humanum est. mistakes come into being due to the cultural level, ignorance or purposed usage. In both cases an interpreter should be on the guide with bi-texts and peritexts in terms of theories of retranslation, global translation and explicitation.
