Abstract

The article is dedicated to the analysis of realization of the linguistic personality at the lingual, conceptual and pragmatic levels. The object of the research is the lingual and stylistic peculiarities of verbalization of the construct of the cognitive and pragmatic levels of the linguistic personality. The subject of the research is the features of the arrangement of language units and cognitive constructs in the hero´s communication process. The work has been made on the basis of English dialogues from the television series ‘Elementary’. The topic of the linguistic personality is an important part of the modern linguistic theory. However, the exemplification basis is not complete, which determined the vector of our studies. The aim of our research was to analyse the lingual and cognitive characteristics of actualization of the chosen linguistic personality. The conclusions drawn from the scientific linguistic sources form the theoretical part of the article. The practical part of our study includes the analysis of the communicative practice of the main hero of the television series ‘Elementary’ In the analysis of the verbal level of the linguistic personality special attention is given to the classification of the stylistic expressive means in the communicative practive of the chosen hero. In the research of his cognitive level, a number of actual concepts and conceptual metaphors are revealed. The pragmatic level of the linguistic personality is also considered as the one that contains certain precedent phenomena, the use of which is predetermined by particular communicative strategies. As a result of our complex research we can state that there is a number of uniquelingual features of our linguistic personality that can be explained due to the peculiarities of the individual worldview and its realization in the communication acts according to certain pragmatic purposes.
