IMPLICIT EVALUATION WITHIN MANIPULATIVE STRATEGY AND TACTICS OF ITS IMPLEMENTATION
Abstract
The article is devoted to the research of expressive means of implicit evaluation within a manipulative strategy and tactics of its implementation based on the English literary discourse. Manipulation is considered as a universal phenomenon that appears in many spheres of human activity and is the object of study for many sciences. Manipulation is a way of influencing people, which is aimed to the mental structures of the communicator, takes place hidden and aims to correct the addressee's behavior in the desired direction. The relevance of the work is caused by need for a more detailed study of the phenomenon of implicit evaluation, taking into account the pragmatic aspect of its representation. There were used such scientific methods as cognitive, conversational, pragmasemantic, speech act, presupositional and discourse analysis which gave a possibility of complex characteristics of the research object. The pragmatic aspect of communication allows a person to express his attitude to the environment through the evaluation of events, society, received information, as well as to exert a certain influence on the surrounding reality. In the process of communication, communicators pursue certain pragmatic goals, for the achievement of which implicit evaluation is used in speech, which allows to implicitly transmit certain information, thoughts, evaluation of actions or events. While planning his or her message, the speaker always takes into account different approaches to communication, which will be the most effective in a particular situation and will help to achieve the set goal. That is why the effectiveness of the message depends on the choice of one or another strategy and tactics. According to the results of the investigation, it was found that the tactics of implementation of implicit evaluation within the manipulative strategy are aimed at satisfying one's own interests, manipulation and win in the conflict, correcting the behavior and opinions of others. Implicit assessment within a manipulative strategy is most often negative. The choice of a certain tactic depends on the circumstances of the interaction, the relationship between the speakers, social status, emotional background and the purpose of communication. Prospects for further research are expanding the range of tactics for implementing a manipulative strategy, which includes an implicit evaluation.
