ANTHROPONYM DONALD TRUMP AS THE BASE FOR CREATING LEXICAL INNOVATIONS IN MODERN ENGLISH
Abstract
Some extralingual and intralingual factors affecting the vocabulary enrichment in Modern American English are regarded in the article. The subject matter of this work are the peculiarities оf new words creation from personal names of outstanding people. Anthroponym DONALD TRUMP, mainly its constituent denoting family name, has become the base for creating a plenty of new words. Affixation, blending and compounding have proved to be the most productive ways of word building based on the anthroponym TRUMP. In virtue of analyses of neologisms and occasional words derived from the studied personal name some trends of English word formation have been revealed. The role of traditional and new affixes in word-building processes has been enlightened. It is found out that the majority of the relevant lexical innovations have negative connotation which represents the attitude of Americans to the president’s personality and activity. The lexico-grammatical classes to which the new words derived from the regarded anthroponym belong are the Noun, the Adjective and the Verb.
